Tavasha Anderson
Girls Varsity Head Coach
Coach Anderson is entering her 12th year in Education as a teacher, mentor, & coach; some of which was spent working abroad. This year will be Coach Anderson´s second year as Lone Star Girls Basketball Head Coach. She spent last year as the Varsity Assistant. Tavasha played Division I basketball at Louisiana Tech under Teresa Weatherspoon´s leadership. Coach Anderson received a Bachelors of Science in Clinical Kinesiology and a Masters of Arts in Education from Louisiana Tech University. She also earned a Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington. Coach Anderson and her wife Nikki have four children; Austin, Jaiden, Kendall, & Pierce. They also have a Goldendoodle named Dallas. In her spare time, Coach Anderson enjoys traveling, listening to music, and spending time in nature.
Ashley Watts
Girls Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Watts joins Lone Star as the Varsity Assistant Girls basketball coach. She is a former Frisco ISD student having attended Liberty High School in 2006. She joins our staff with over a decade of coaching experience, including years at the high school and collegiate levels. She also spent time coaching military youth sports while her husband was an active duty sergeant in the Army. Coach Watts likes to focus heavily on the defensive side of basketball and looks forward to making her impact on the program. She teaches Business and Finance at Lone Star.
Yolanda Usera
Girls JV Coach
Coach Usera is entering her seventh year as a teacher, but first year teaching at Lone Star High School. She teaches Social Studies at Lone Star. She has coached multiple sports, including softball, basketball, volleyball and track for over ten years. She has coached at the middle school and high school levels. She was also the head coach of ASA softball for young girls in the local city league. Coach Usera received her Bachelors from Iowa State University on a full ride academic scholarship, where she majored in Finance and minored in Political Science. After college she lived and worked in Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle. Later, she obtained her Masters in Secondary Education from Black Hills State University and fell in love with teaching. Coach Usera has one daughter, Yoli. They have two dogs, Oreo and Oatmeal, and one tortoise, Donatello. In her spare time, she enjoys working out at the gym, staying active in her sorority, and spending time with her daughter.
Kelly Covert
Girls Freshman Coach
Coach Covert comes to us from Little Elm. She has 5 years of head coaching experience and several years as an assistant. Her first year as head volleyball coach she led her team to the Area Championship game for the first time in 17 years. She played basketball in middle and high school. She previously coached basketball at Everman Joe C. Bean High School and club volleyball at TAV. She is also a Nike Camp Director for two summer volleyball camps. She specializes in skills development, core values, and keeping the gym fun! She teaches Biology and Aquatic Science at Lone Star.
